Ayurvedic Treatment for Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis can affect the body’s sense of coordination, strength, sensation, and reliability from day to day. Symptoms may shift, energy may fluctuate, and the nervous system can feel easily strained. Ayurveda looks at MS through the lens of Vata, the Ayurvedic principle associated with movement, nerve activity, and communication throughout the body.

The Raj’s approach to MS focuses on supporting steadier nerve function and reducing the stress that can make the system feel less coordinated or dependable. Your program may emphasize warm oil therapies, grounding routines, nourishing meals, quiet rest, and lifestyle guidance that helps conserve energy and support smoother daily rhythm.

Panchakarma is used carefully as a rejuvenating therapy for the nervous system. Rather than pushing the body, the goal is to create a quieter internal environment where the physiology can feel more settled, nourished, and supported in maintaining strength, stability, and ease of movement.

Multiple Sclerosis Success Stories & Case Studies

“I Now Have Better Mobility”

During my stay at The Raj, I noticed significant improvement in my balance and in the feeling on my right side, which had previously been numb.

During my week there, I felt no fatigue and experienced better mobility. I was able to lift my right leg and grasp and carry a bag with my right hand, which I had not been able to do when I arrived.

I was very happy with everything and everyone during my stay at The Raj.

“No Pain, No Fatigue and No More Walker”

I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1990. As the disease progressed, fatigue forced me to reduce my 40-hour workweek to 12–15 hours, and eventually I needed a walker. Each day the pain increased, and I was taking painkillers, fatigue medication, and nerve pain drugs. My doctor told me I had progressed to secondary progressive multiple sclerosis.

At The Raj, I felt progressively better after each daily treatment. After my second treatment, I noticed an increase in energy. Each day the pain decreased, and by the end of the seventh day, the weakness in my legs was the primary symptom that remained.

I left The Raj no longer taking painkillers, fatigue medications, or nerve pain drugs. Two days later, when my son crashed his bicycle, “I just took off running! My legs were back! No pain, no fatigue and no more walker!”

Six weeks later, my doctor performed neurological tests and was impressed by my progress. He increased my permitted work hours from 12–15 to 20 hours per week, with the possibility of returning to 40 hours.

Walking Unassisted After Severe MS Symptoms

A 35-year-old man came to The Raj with a recent diagnosis of multiple sclerosis. Three weeks earlier, he had been hospitalized with weakness and spasticity in his right leg, balance difficulties, fatigue, and malaise. Testing, including spinal fluid analysis and a brain MRI, showed findings consistent with MS.

An initial examination at The Raj found abnormalities involving the left eye and optic nerve, abnormal reflexes in both legs, weakness, lack of coordination, and severe difficulty walking.

He underwent a Maharishi Ayurveda program that included purification treatments, dietary changes, Transcendental Meditation, yoga, and specific herbal preparations.

By the end of his stay, he was able to walk 800 yards unassisted.

Nearly 12 years later, he continued to follow the recommended natural approach and had experienced no symptoms of relapse. He was walking two miles daily, lifting weights, working full-time, and described himself as having a positive attitude without depression or anxiety.
